Other trips may be available by special arrangement – we try to be flexible but if we really think something can’t be fitted in we will say so!
All services are subject to availability, river conditions, weather etc and cannot be guaranteed. Guildford Boat House reserves the right to change the schedule when necessary and without notice. A minimum of 30 paying passengers is required to make a group bookings. We very much regret that space constraints and safety reasons mean that our craft are not suitable for the accommodation of the wheelchair-bound. We reserve the right to sell remaining seats to the general public except where the boat is privately chartered.
HARRY STEVENS - TRIPS FOR SCHOOL GROUPS
A visit to the River Wey - owned and cared for
by the National Trust - can contribute to many areas of the curriculum. From
geography and science, to technology and mathematics, history and art, a visit
can stimulate activities in most subjects.
Guildford Boat House operates River Trips covering the stretch of navigation
between Godalming and Guildford and offers an ideal way for Key Stage 1 &
2 children to study the river at first hand.
The trip boat Harry Stevens is named after the last proprietor of the Wey Navigation,
who donated the river to the National Trust in 1964. This is an open-sided launch
seating up to 69 passengers and for all weather protection the craft is fitted
with roll-down-see-through curtains. There is a public address system on board
used by the skipper for commentaries whilst cruising, and sometimes by staff
if the trip is to cover aspects of riveeer life you are seeking to highlight.
Guildford Boat House is ideally situated in the middle of Guildford Town
making it possible to combine two or more activities to make the most of your
day.
Guildford Castle is within walking distance.
Guildford Museum has many displays featuring the river as well as much
local information - Tel: 01483 444750
Guildford Discovery Science Centre - Tel: 01483 537080
Guildford Borough Council provides excellent free guided walks through
the town - Tel: 01483 444333
The Meadows opposite the Boat House are ideal for picnics and games.
Dapdune Wharf
Trips can be combined with a visit to Dapdune Wharf, situated downstream from
Guildford Boat House.
The Wharf was once the barge-building site for the River's main operator. It
was opened as a National Trust Visitor's Centre in 1996 and gives a fascinating
insight into the history of this 20 mile waterway. The Education Department
at the Wharf have put together some excellent facilities as well as a good education
pack for teachers. The Education Officer will tailor your visit to your needs
if you so wish. There is a classroom and activities can include dressing up,
role-play as well as science and IT. There is coach parking at the Wharf.
To combine a river trip passing through a lock with a visit to the Wharf
makes the very best use of a day.
Please remember that you must book your visit with Dapdune Wharf and there
is a separate charge to enter for groups unless your school has National Trust
education group membership. Dapdune Wharf is open from Thursday to Monday inclusive,
but school groups can often book on other days.
The Cruises for School Groups

of course) on the following days:
Easter to 17 May:- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. 22 May to 12 July:- Tuesday and Thursday. 11 Sep to 25 Oct:- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.

As a concession for schools, we vary our normal terms by allowing you to pay up to one month after the trip, or by the end of the current term, which ever id the soonewr, rather than in advance, as we ask private parties to do. A second invoice, based on the actual number of people attending, is issued on the day of the trip.
One teacher or helper travels free of charge for every ten children booked.
Teachers are most welcome to have a preview trip where possible, by prior arrangement.

All services are subject to availability, river conditions, weather etc and cannot be guaranteed. Guildford Boat House reserves the right to change the schedule when necessary and without notice. This is due to space constraints and for reasons of safety and access.
